Yarn Substitutions

For this project I tried out 2 different yarns Furls Whims Merino and Lion Brand Comfy Cotton, I love how both of them work up. If you want a cheaper option I would go with the Lion Brand Comfy cotton you can make 2 banners with just 1 skein!

. There are so many other yarns out there that would also be great for this project. Below are some other great options:

  • Lion Brand Coboo – Lion Brand has released a few different Bamboo and Bamboo blend yarns over the past year and I am here for it! I love everyone of the Bamboo yarns LB has released but Coboo has such a nice composition and feel to it with it being a cotton/ Bamboo blend. You will only need 1 skein for this project!
  • Knit Picks CotLin – The tried and true CotLin has a great selection of colors with a whopping 44 choices! That is one of the things I love about Knit picks is they always have such a large selection of colors. You will need 2 skeins to complete this project.

  • Lion Brand Cotton Fetti Blend – Last but not least, If you’re a lover a bright colors this yarn would be a great substitute to use if you are thinking of hanging this in a kids room or even a craft room! You will need 1 skein to complete this project.

Notes:

  • Each triangle is worked separately starting from the bottom working to the top.
  • The triangles are then lined up next to each other and each stitch is picked up along the top, forming them into a banner.
  • Lastly the tassels are added to each triangle to finish off.

Measurements:

Each triangle should measure approximately 7.5 inches wide by 5 inches long.

If you would like a smaller sized banner use a size (2) sport weight yarn and 4.5mm needles. Knit Picks Galileo would be a good option for a smaller tassel banner.

If you would like to make a larger sized banner use a size (4) worsted weight yarn and 6.0mm needles. Lion Brand Nuboo would also be a really pretty option for a larger tassel banner.
