Knit Boho Market Tote

I bring you the Boho Market Tote! yes I know I’m late to the summer party. I never seem to be in the right season when I’m ready to release a pattern so here we are in fall with a a lacey bag. But hey its the end of October and we still haven’t broke summer temps here in Arizona. Plus you can use a reusable bag any time of year!

Weight (5) Bulky, 98 yds.

  • Tapestry Needle

Notes

  • Bag is worked in the round from the top down. The strap is then added by picking up stitches on one side and joining to the other side.
  • The lace section consists of a 4 row repeat.
  • When working up the strap you will use 2 strands of yarn for a more secure strap.
  • After completing the lace section you will move to the base of the bag where you will decrease to finish off. Once you get to the end the bag is cinched up and the tail is weaved in.

Small Size

CO 62

Make sure your stitches are not twisted

Join ends together, place your stitch marker

Rounds 1-9: K

Do not cut yarn. Continue working starting at round 1 below.

Lace section (4 row repeat)

Round 1: yfwd, *yo, p2tog, rep from* to the last st.

Round 2: yb, K each st

Round 3: k1, yfwd, *yo, p2tog, rep from* to the last 3 sts, p2tog, yb, k.

Round 4: K

Repeat lace section until it measures approx. 6.5”-7”s. Make sure to measure only the lace section and not include the stockinette section at the top of the bag.

Large Size

Make sure your stitches are not twisted

Join ends together, place your stitch marker

Do not cut yarn. Continue working starting at round 1 below.

Lace section (4 row repeat)

Round 1: yfwd, *yo, p2tog, rep from* to the last st.

Round 2: yb, K each st

Round 3: k1, yfwd, *yo, p2tog, rep from* to the last 3 sts, p2tog, yb, k.

Round 4: K

Repeat lace section until it measures approx. 9”-9.5”s. Make sure to measure only the lace section and not include the stockinette section at the top of the bag.

Base section of bag

Rounds 1-3: K

Round 4: k2tog, *k5, k2tog, rep from* until you are left with 24 sts.

Cut a 12” tail. Do NOT cast off.

Take your tapestry needle, feed your tail through your needle and start threading your needle through each remaining sts. When you get back to the beginning of your row pull all stitches off your needles.

Pull tail tight, tie off tail, weave in the end.

Strap (both sizes)

Lay your work flat, with 2 strands of yarn pick up 5 sts (this can be done anywhere on your bag) along the top.

K each st, repeat until you have 56 rows. Do NOT cut yarn.

We will now secure your strap to the other side of your bag. Lay bag flat again and pick up sts on the ws of the bag directly across from where the strap begins. To pick up the sts work from the inside of the bag, insert needle into your live sts, as well as the top of the bag, k, pulling the loop through all sts on right needle. Repeat for all 5 sts.

Cast off all sts.
