How to Crochet the Crossed Double Crochet Stitch
The crossed double crochet is an elegant stitch with a lacey look. This is a beginner friendly stitch that is very simple to work up. You can use this stitch to add some texture to winter garments or use a cotton yarn to create some lightweight summer apparel. Aside from the basics all you need to know is how to double crochet to make this pattern.
I included a staggered variation of this stitch in one of my recent pattern releases for the Snowdrop Crochet Vest. You can find the Free pattern here as well as the video tutorial.
Materials
- Furls Wander – I used the color Canary
- Furls Limited Edition Padauk – 6.00mm (J) you can usually find these hooks available during the holidays
Pattern
Multiple of 2+1
For my swatch I first worked a foundation row of single crochets.
To begin the first row of this stitch chain 2 skip first stitch next to the hook and double crochet into the second stitch,
now double crochet into the first skipped stitch. Continue working by skipping one stitch, double crochet, then double crochet into the skipped stitch, work to the end and double crochet into the last stitch.
If you omitted the row of single crochets chain 17 stitches. Double crochet into the 5th stitch from the hook, then double crochet into the skipped stitch. Skip one stitch, double crochet, double crochet into the skipped stitch. Repeat to last stitch double crochet into last stitch.
In addition to the written pattern I also have a video tutorial below showing step by step how to work the Crossed Double Crochet stitch.
